Well, much to my disappointment, even Joe Root couldn’t save the Cricket team down-under, and it’s not looking good for the Ashes. The Rugby League team did us proud however, even though they lost the World Cup Final to Australia - they put in a great performance, against the undisputed best in the world, and should be proud they did their best – almost a shock win!
It just goes to show, if you do your very best and come up short, that’s OK, beaten by a better team, but if you don’t produce your best and get beaten, that’s not the way to lose!
The same can be said for life in general, do your very best, and that’s the most anyone can expect or want from you – If you do that every time, every day without exception, there is no doubt you will succeed in both life and sport. The most successful people with tell you that at some point in their careers they thought they were going to fail. Not because they didn’t have enough confidence in themselves, but because they had risked everything. The difference between these successful people and those we never hear about again is that the successful ones kept going!!
So if you ever feel worn down or intimidated by the thought of failing, just take a look at these entrepreneurs who failed before making it big. Even Williams, co-founder of Twitter; Reid Hoffman, co-founder of LinkedIn and Sir James Dyson – it took him 15 years and all of his savings to develop a bagless prototype that worked. He developed 5,126 prototypes that failed first!!
“My attitude has always been, if you fall flat on your face, at least you’re moving forward. All you have to do is get back up and try again.” Richard Branson
